Why we designed a carbon fiber heater for PET blowing
Here’s the reality of PET bottle blowing: if the preform doesn’t heat evenly, the whole run gets messy. We built our carbon fiber heat lamps to fix that, plain and simple. They swap out those bulky, old-school heaters and deliver focused infrared heat—fast. The whole point is to get the preform to the right temperature quickly, without scorching the surface or wasting energy.
The nitty-gritty: power, voltage, and fit
These lamps run at 400V and deliver 2500W, which packs a lot of heat into a small space. The 300mm tube length matches standard heating zones, so you can drop it right in without reworking the machine. Going high voltage keeps the current lower. That means less voltage drop on the line, and you can use thinner wiring. You get more heat per millimeter, sure—but that also means surrounding parts feel more of the heat. Plan your airflow and add a little shielding, and you’ll be set.
What’s inside, and why it matters
We put the carbon fiber element inside a quartz tube and add a reflective coating. That coating pushes more energy outward where you need it, and it helps protect the inside from hot spots. The shortwave infrared response is what makes PET heat up so quickly. That speed cuts cycle time and makes results more consistent. And the R7s connector? It’s the practical choice. It handles high current, locks in place, and lets you swap a lamp straight out—no tools. You’ll feel the precision in the pin fit, and the ceramic body stays solid, even when things vibrate.
What it feels like on the line
On the shop floor, these lamps give you heating that’s predictable. That predictability helps you keep wall thickness steady and bottles strong. Fast ramp-up means you can keep the line moving. And because the form is compact, you can fit several lamps side-by-side for even coverage. Maintenance is simple: when a lamp goes, you swap the R7s unit and get back to work. Just keep in mind, high power density means you need proper cooling and clean reflectors. Wipe the lens free of dust and grease, and the lamp will hold its output for thousands of hours.
