The Power Side of Things Here’s the thing about the specs: we look at the heat flux per millimeter. Carbon fiber handles current density way better than your standard resistive wires. When you crank up the voltage, the surface temperature jumps almost instantly. No more waiting around for the system to warm up. But a word of caution—if you’re packing high wattage into a short tube, watch your reflectors. If they aren’t aligned perfectly, the heat builds up at the ends and you’ll burn the tube out way sooner than you should. Build and Connections The quartz glass isn’t just for show; it keeps the carbon from oxidizing. Depending on what you’re heating, we can add coatings to the glass to tweak the emission spectrum or help certain materials absorb the heat better. For the plugs, we stick with R7s or SK15 bases. They’re simple and they fit tight.**And please, make sure that fit is snug.**A loose connection creates a hot spot, and before you know it, you’ve melted your socket. Also, do yourself a favor and use high-temp wiring. It’s not worth the risk. Real-World Use (and the Gotchas) You’ll see these all over the place—PET blowing, curing adhesives, rapid drying lines. They’re great because they don’t take up much room. You get a massive amount of heat in a tiny footprint. But there’s a catch. Because they’re so intense, the quartz is a bit finicky. It hates mechanical shocks and it really hates dirt. If someone touches the glass, the oil from their fingerprints creates a stress point. Once the tube starts heating and cooling, those spots turn into cracks. It’s a nightmare. Tell your team to wipe the tubes down with IPA before they install them. It takes ten seconds and saves you from a random failure in the middle of a shift.
