Instead, we focused on a power density that gives you a steady, deep heat soak without scorching your materials. It’s about balance. Why carbon fiber? Here’s the thing about carbon fiber filaments—they just behave differently than the old-school tungsten ones. They put out a broader spectrum of infrared light. The result? Your ramp-up time drops significantly. You aren’t sitting around waiting for the oven to warm up, which means you aren’t wasting power or time during startup. It’s just efficient. Built to actually last Metal filaments have a habit of sagging or snapping when they go through constant heating and cooling cycles. Carbon fiber doesn’t do that. It handles the stress much better. We wrap that filament in a quartz envelope to keep oxidation at bay. Because it’s carbon-based, you won’t see that annoying “burn out” you get with cheap halogen bulbs when you push them too hard. One quick tip:**Check your sockets.**Make sure they can actually handle a 550W load. If your connectors are loose, you’ll get arcing, and your lamp will die way sooner than it should. Getting it into your workflow If you’ve got mid-sized curing ovens or drying tunnels, these should slide right in. The 350mm size fits most standard racking without a fight. But a heads-up on the physics here. Carbon fiber has its own emission curve. If your material only reacts to very short-wave IR, you might notice the cure time feels a bit different than it did with halogen. Also, because these things react so quickly, you’ll want to tweak your PID controllers. If you don’t, the lamp might overshoot your target temperature before the controller can catch up.
