Let’s Talk About Our 360mm 700W Carbon Fiber Lamps

When we sat down to design these 360mm lamps, we had one goal: speed. We wanted something that hits its target temperature almost instantly, without the lag you get from old-school heating elements.

Getting the Heat Right

We settled on 700W across a 360mm length for a reason. It’s a sweet spot. If you push too much power into a short space, the lamp burns out. Too little, and you’re just waiting around. By balancing the wattage and length, we’ve made sure the heat is spread evenly across the whole span. No weird cold spots, no “hot zones”—just a consistent curtain of heat.

Why Carbon Fiber?

Most people are used to Kanthal or Nichrome metal coils. Those are fine, but they’re slow. Carbon fiber is different. It ramps up fast. Really fast. We wrap the fiber in a high-purity quartz tube to keep it safe from the air, which gives you a specific kind of medium-to-long wave infrared. It doesn’t just sit on the surface; it actually gets into the material. One quick heads-up, though. Carbon fiber is a bit delicate. It hates being shaken. If you drop the lamp or bolt it into a machine that vibrates like crazy, the filament might snap. If your setup is a bit shaky, just use some dampened mounts to keep things steady.

Putting Them to Work

These are designed to be simple drop-in replacements. You swap out your old lamps, plug them in, and you’re good to go. But here’s a tip: check your PID controllers. Since carbon fiber reacts so much faster than metal, your system might “overshoot” the temperature if it’s still tuned for the old, slow stuff. You’ll want to tweak those settings to match the new speed. These are a dream for things like PET blowing, plastic welding, or drying paint lines. Anywhere you need to hit a temperature fast without scorching the surface. Oh, and keep your reflectors clean. If they’re cloudy or oxidized, you’re basically throwing away half your heat. Give them a wipe, and you’ll see the difference.
