You aren’t wasting energy heating up all the air in the room. But look, there’s a trade-off. These lamps hit operating temperature almost instantly, but they’re fragile. Like, really fragile. One clumsy move during installation and you’ve snapped the filament. My advice? Mount them in a rigid rack. If your machine vibrates, you don’t want these lamps taking a beating, or you’ll be replacing them a lot sooner than you’d like.
